Pastel Chalk Painting Instructions for silicone babies
#1 Scrub the silicone pieces with Ajax using a soft brush. Rinse and put into a warm oven to dry at 170 degrees for an hour or two.
#2 Dust Caboseal evenly all over. Remove excess Caboseal Powder with a soft brush or make up sponge. The appearance of the silicone pieces will now be matt.
#3 Scribble ink from a brownish mauve color Sharpie Permanent marker onto a rough surface such as a plastic cutting board. Use a #3 lip brush dipped into alcohol to dilute the color then paint the creases of the face, hands and feet lightly with the color. Veins can be made in a similar way by using a blue or lavender marker's color. Brown Marker color can be used for tiny brow hairs.
#4 With a stipple brush, (I like either a size #3 or #4 ) pick up the center color in your paint box and lightly stipple in shaded areas such as wrinkles of the face, hands and feet. Do not use too much color. With a #2 china mop blush cheeks with the pink chalk.
#5 If you are not pleased with the way your baby looks simply wash off the color with either Ajax or Alcohol, dry off and start over. If you are pleased with the way your baby looks lock on the color with Locktite Silicone sealer by dabbing small amounts over the color with a makeup sponge. Make sure and get into the crevices because without the sealer the chalk will wear off. Let the pieces dry overnight and apply a second coat of Loctite sealer. A week after the final application of Loctite, dust all over with Caboseal. Remove excess powder with a clean soft brush or a makeup sponge. The sealer will not completely cure for three weeks so handle carefully!
#6 When you are ready to set the hair into the silicone be sure and cover the
face with a soft lint free cloth. I let an incompletely cured head rest in
my lap and the color was scrubbed off on my rough jeans. Your baby should give
you many years of enjoyment and will be a treasure to pass on for generations
to come!
Enjoy!
